New Zealand IRD Voice ID service, based on ArmorVox technology, surpasses 1M customers

According to reports out of New Zealand, the country’s Inland Revenue Department’s Voice ID service has just surpassed 1 million customers. This system is based on ArmorVox voice biometrics technology.

“This is a significant achievement. At 1 million enrolments we have the highest level of voice biometric enrolments per capita in the world,” New Zealand Revenue Minister Todd McClay said in a report in “Leading the way in voice biometrics highlights the Government’s commitment to reducing red tape and compliance for New Zealanders.”

According to the report, roughly 60-70 percent of people who call IRD on any given day are now enrolled in the voice biometrics system.

Under the system in place at New Zealand’s Inland Revenue Department, customers can automatically check their account balance, receive child support information, track tax refunds, retrieve IRD numbers, active online services and reset passwords.
