Ufone expands biometric verification system deployment to 200 cities

Pakistani telecommunications firm Ufone announced it has expanded deployment of the biometric verification system (BVS) for issuance/activation or changing SIMs to over 200 cities.

The move has been made in compliance with Pakistan Telecommunication Authority directives to deploy BVS, beginning on August 1st.

Ufone first installed the BVS in December 2013, and within the same month, the company was able to deploy it all its service centers and franchises.

The roll-out of BVS was carried out in phases, with a further expansion of its deployment completed at all its retail centers in Baluchistan and Karachi by April 2014.

“Ufone is committed and has carried out Biometric Verification System installation over 200 cities across Pakistan in order to facilitate our valued customers,” said Amir Pasha, head of public relations and corporate social responsibility at Ufone. “In the near future, we aim to extend this BVS network to over 50,000 outlets. We have carried out extensive training sessions for our retail network for the use and adoption of the system.”
