BIO-key, partners demonstrate biometric identification solution for blood donors

October 27, 2014 -

BIO-key International is currently demonstrating its biometric donor identification solutions at the AABB annual meeting, being held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center through to October 28.

The company’s technology is integrated with Healthcare-ID and Blood Bank Computer Systems, providers of software platforms to the largest blood centers in the United States.

BIO-key has issued over three million TruDonor Identification licenses to blood centers that have moved away from traditional donor ID cards.

The TruDonor platform provides a rapid positive identifier and ensures that blood centers will never have to issue, replace or update donor identification cards, which will help them save production and postage costs.

The new donor identification system enables blood centers to search for and positively identify blood donors, as well as detects and prevents duplicate donor records to protect donor privacy and eliminate errors related to manual registration.

Additionally, the automation of the donor check-in process enables the blood center staff to focus on their other day to day responsibilities.

At this year’s AABB meeting, BIO-key is participating in a demonstration with their four-industry partners, including Applied-Sciences, Blood Bank Computer Systems and Digi-Trax, which will collectively demonstrate an integrated blood and donor management ecosystem.
