GOTrust Technology, DDS provide FIDO-based biometric identification for Android smartphones

February 23, 2015 -

GOTrust Technology Inc. announced it has partnered with DDS Inc. to deliver strong authentication and hardware based security for all Android smartphones using a combination of microSD based security modules and biometric identification methods.

Using ‘FIDO UAF 1.0‘ standards for universal strong authentication, the implementation will allow users to conduct business with any online service provider that offers FIDO authentication using a single and secure method of identification.

GOTrust Technology’s and DDS’ FIDO partnership also includes new Android smartphones with fingerprint readers and older smartphones without biometrics.

“Combining our technologies brings together the best biometric solutions and the security strength of the GO-Trust FIPS certified microSD secure element, which permits the easy transportability of identity between smart phones,” said GOTrust Technology CEO Darren Lee. “There is no longer any need to re-register all your applications and services when you upgrade your phone or change service provider.”

Additionally, the GO-Trust FIDO microSD can store private keys and other credentials in a Trusted Execution Environment between mobile devices just by transferring the microSD.

“FIDO specifications open a world of secure authentication that is easy to use on smart phones and tablets,” said Kenji Miyoshino, CEO of DDS Inc. “Working with GO-Trust we have security solutions that cover every Android user. We see FIDO being the new Authentication standard in Japan in the very near future.”
