Two new Huawei smartphones feature FPC and Precise Biometrics fingerprint technology

Fingerprint Cards (FPC) and Precise Biometrics are providing the fingerprint technology for the new Huawei G9 Youth and Huawei M2 Youth smartphones.

Both devices use Precise Biometrics’ algorithm solution for fingerprint recognition in mobile devices, Precise BioMatch Mobile. The fingerprint algorithm is based on Precise Biometrics’ standardized extractor and matcher technology, which is ISO 19794-2 compliant.

The new Huawei G9 Youth smartphone features Fingerprint Cards’ touch fingerprint sensor FPC1025 and the M2 Youth device features the FPC1145 sensor.

Earlier this year, research firm Acuity Market Intelligence said that more than 200 smartphones incorporating fingerprint, iris, and eye-vein biometrics been introduced since Q1 2013 under 70 brand names including Apple, Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, TCL, Oppo, Vivo, and ZTE. Acuity projects that 600 million biometric smartphones are currently in use representing 28% of the global installed base.
