Biometrics companies represent at IFSEC International

IFSEC International, the exhibition for security innovation and expertise, kicks off next week in London, England. The event covers every aspect of security, from access control and video surveillance to home automation and perimeter security and Suprema, Aurora, Avigilon and Biodit are just a few of the companies who will be on site demonstrating their lastest innovations and solutions.

Suprema will be showcasing CoreStation, its new biometrics-based intelligent access controller. Designed for mid to enterprise-level systems, CoreStation handles up to 500,000 users with fingerprint matching speed of 400,000 matches per second and is capable of offering comprehensive access control features with the company’s BioStar 2 platform. The device also provides centralized biometric template management and also interfaces with complete set of reader technologies including RS-485(OSDP) and Wiegand.

“The new CoreStation is designed to fulfill the demand of biometric technology within the more-secure, larger scale access control applications with centralized topology,” explained Hanchul Kim, director of global business at Suprema. “While providing intelligent controller functionalities, the device also manages fingerprint matching and biometric data storage under the hood. With the addition of this intelligent biometric controller to Suprema’s existing access control portfolio, our customers will have more choices and flexibility in designing their security systems.”

Suprema will also demonstrate its secure, anti-spoofing live finger detection technology and the BioStar 2 Mobile Card which offers secure biometric mobile credential by storing user information and sensitive biometric data on the user’s smartphone. Supporting both BLE and NFC communication, BioStar 2 Mobile Card is compatible to the most smartphones on the market today.

Aurora will be unveiling its latest next-generation technology development: FaceSentinel LR, a long-range sensor that extends Aurora’s near infrared capabilities to a wider range of distances, making it suitable for applications such as queue management, surveillance, and VIP identification. FaceSentinel LR uses high speed global shutter technology and a high brightness near IR ceramic flash to deliver a series of HDR still frames to Aurora’s facial recognition engine. Dynamic image analysis provides for adjustment of the illumination to optimize the clarity of a subject’s face in the next frame, repeatable at up to 40fps.

Aurora Head of Sales and Marketing Gary James explains how FaceSentinel LR addresses the issues found in operating facial recognition with visible light CCTV images, a major obstacle for accuracy in situations where the subject isn’t presenting their face directly to a camera. “This problem has been overcome by integrating the specialist illumination and imaging components in one application-specific device. The sensor is highly compact, with very low power consumption, despite its powerful output and processing ability. This extends the operational range of our IR face recognition capability fivefold, opening up many new applications such as queue monitoring and covert identification.”

Aurora will also showcase its FaceSentinel Sensor integrated with the Fastlane Glassgate 300 turnstile, operating in both token-free “Identification” Mode (1:n), which allows registered users access simply by looking at the sensor, and in “Verification” Mode (1:1), which adds a biometric layer to the functionality of any access control system. In Verification mode, FaceSentinel confirms the identity of a person holding a card or entering a PIN, before passing the details through to the access control system. Both authentication and verification happen in a second or less.

Avigilon Corporation will be previewing the new Avigilon Access Control Manager (ACM) system integration with Virdi’s fingerprint reader technology. The integration of ACM with Virdi’s biometric authentication adds an additional form of identification to high security environments. This enhanced level of verification is supported by Virdi’s patented Live and Fake Fingerprint Detection Technology, which uses human capacitance, infrared light and advanced algorithms, to deliver advanced accuracy and speed at access points.

“Biometric access control is a rapidly growing requirement for securing facilities,” commented Cory Bellamy, Virdi International Managing Director. “We’re excited to be integrating with Avigilon’s Access Control Manager, as it will provide our customers with a solution that enhances their security systems.”

“With the continued fast-paced growth of Avigilon’s access control solutions, integrating with Virdi’s system opens up more options for our customers,” said James Henderson, Avigilon’s Chief Operating Officer. “This provides them with an added layer of security for accurate and fast identity recognition in high security environments.”

Avigilon’s ACM system integration with Virdi’s biometric fingerprint reader technology will be available to order in the third quarter of this year.

Biodit Global Technology will also be presenting its latest innovations in the field of biometric access control.

“We have developed not only a way of access control, but also solutions to a number of security issues,” explained Biodit Global Technology CEO Julian Sofroniev. “Our wireless technology allows precise access control and monitoring of different premises in real time.”

The event runs from June 20th to the 22nd.
