Softex launches fingerprint-based account access solution for financial industry

Enterprise Single Sign-On, IAM and data protection provider Softex has announced the launch of OmniDefend Customer Verification Service (CVS), along with the OmniDefend Identity Management Architecture it is built on, at the IBEX trade show in Mumbai. OmniDefend enables banks and other financial companies to offer cloud-based fingerprint verification for customer and employee account access.

The Identity-as-a-Service (IaaS) offering has a modular architecture to apply different features to specific markets, and can be hosted from a public cloud, on-premises server, or semi-private cloud, the company says, and SDKs are available for API-level integration with various platforms. Standards supported by its architecture include OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0, SCIM 2.0, and FIDO 2.0. In addition to fingerprint scanners, the platform supports signature recognition pads and palm vein scanners, and it is also architected to support face, voice, and non-biometric technologies.

OmniDefend CVS integrates through APIs with Core Banking System operator screens for employee login, and with customer-facing financial applications such as ATMs and websites.

“Softex is pleased to announce the release of OmniDefend and to extend its Identity Management Solutions to the cloud,” Apurva Bhansali, CEO of Softex commented. “With over 25 years of providing enterprise-class security solutions and biometric Single Sign-on to enterprise and SMB customers, Softex is able to leverage our expertise and help customers confidently manage their employee and customer identities in the cloud backed by the safety and security of OmniDefend.”
