CBA Japan offers biometric fingerprint solution for Android & Microsoft mobile platforms

Competition is heating up. After Apple acquired AuthenTec and its fingerprint authorization technology, speculation was high as to Apple’s future direction. Apple’s competitors were quick to grasp the significance of the acquisition, and have turned their attention to CBA Japan, Inc. and its optical fingerprint-sensing technology.

Biometrics pioneer and Tokyo Institute of Technology venture company CBA Japan Inc. is now offering makers of Android and Microsoft-based mobile services with the exclusive use of its optical fingerprint sensing technology for use in tablets and notebooks.

This move is designed to even the competition.

Although Apple has not made any announcements, the acquisition of AuthenTec’s fingerprint authorization technology sparked speculations that Apple will be integrating fingerprint identification and verification in newer versions of iPhones and iPads to facilitate mobile payments. This will make possible online and conventional shopping, as well as web logins and digital signatures.

AuthenTec’s reputation as world leader in fingerprint technology is widely known and respected. Its fingerprint sensor has been used by companies such as Acer, DELL, Lenovo, ASUS, Samsung, Toshiba, and HP. Fujitsu also uses it in its REGZA smartphones.

The optical fingerprint sensing technology from CBA Japan is already integrated in one million phones made by Sharp. And now, it offers the use of its optical fingerprint sensors and fingerprint algorithms to all Android product manufacturers and all Microsoft-related manufacturers worldwide.
