Orange County to use identification system from MorphoTrak

Morpho (Safran) has announced that Orange Country, California has chosen MorphoTrak to provide MorphoBIS, its next generation biometric identification system for the county’s new identification efforts.

To be housed in the Orange County Crime Lab, MorphoBIS will provide the real-time identification of suspects and criminals with unrivalled accuracy and enhanced productivity as more crimes are solved. MorphoBIS will fully integrate fingerprints and palm prints for high-volume searches submitted by agencies and jurisdictions countywide.

“The selection of MorphoBIS helps us meet one of our core missions, that of Vigilance in safeguarding our community,” Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens said. “Our crime lab will be able to solve more crimes, more efficiently with this key crime-solving tool.”

As the supplier of biometric algorithms, Morpho’s biometric matching technology has also been ranked number-one in fingerprint accuracy for image-only latent searches, by a National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) test.

“The MorphoBIS solution represented the best-value identification solution for the county,” Daniel Vassy, President and CEO of MorphoTrak said. “We are excited to create a strong, lasting partnership with Orange County, starting with the full conversion of existing biometric data.”

Reported in BiometricUpdate.com, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will soon get a much-needed system update from MorphoTrak for its fingerprint identification system.

Likewise, the West Virginia State Police has successfully been using MorphoIDent mobile ID devices for real-time identifications on both the State police and FBI’s databases, supplied by MorphoTrak.
