Biometrics can now track students on school buses

BlinkSpot recently announced national availability of the company’s first to market biometric solution for identifying, monitoring and reporting students as they board and exit school buses.

“Every school year there are too many reports of students getting on the wrong bus, getting off at the wrong locations or worse yet not getting on or off the bus at all,” said Michael Hagan, Vice-President of BlinkSpot. “We recognized that our technology could have a positive impact and deliver a fast, simple and safe solution for parents, administrators and school bus operators.”

When children board or exit the bus the BlinkSpot iris scanning technology recognizes the child and sends real time reports to the school along with an individual email to each parent verifying the time and location of their child.

Developed in conjunction with industry leading biometric identification systems from 3M Cogent, BlinkSpot’s iris scanning technology has an over 99 percent accuracy rate and is operated by Eye-D through a private, secure and dedicated Verizon data portal.

“We all share in the responsibility of making sure that our children are transported safely to the right places, at the right times and on the right buses and this technology gives us the verification tools and peace of mind that we are keeping children safe,” said Jim Hey, President, Southwest Coach.
