Biometrics technology from Softbank unlocks smartphone
Softbank, one of Japan’s biggest telecom carriers, and Universal Robot have teamed up to develop palm and vein pattern technology that permit access to smartphone applications.
The new software enables personal authentication using a smartphone.
The companies jointly developed an algorithm that uses visible light to detect palms and veins patterns. Because it uses both patterns, it is a multi-modal biometric technology that arguably is more secure.
Softbank and Universal Robot are planning to commercialize the technology by the end of the year.
Are you excited about using a combined palm and vein technology to access your smartphones?
