Categories Biometrics News

IGEL Technology, a manufacturer of thin clients has announced that the IGEL Linux now supports the management of users’ credentials on Citrix XenApp servers with DigitalPersona Pro Enterprise v5.3 and v5.4 authentication software on all x86 based iGEL UD2, UD3, UD5 and UD9 devices.

Using the DigitalPersona U.are.U 4500 fingerprint readers connected through a USB drive to IGEL thin clients provides roaming workforces with a secure and speedy form of authentication when accessing virtual desktops.

“DigitalPersona’s fingerprint biometrics solution provides our customers with a highly secure form of authentication,” Matthias Haas, product manager at IGEL said. “Users are able to roam and access virtual desktops with the touch of their finger.”

IGEL Technology helps organizations improve the agility, efficiency and security of their virtual desktop and application delivery systems. The company produces one of the industry’s widest range of thin clients, based on Linux and Windows, which allows customers to access a broad spectrum of server-based infrastructures and applications.

“Thin clients are rapidly growing in popularity as a cost-effective and efficient solution for organizations of all sizes,” said Ben Boulnois, director of EMEA at DigitalPersona. “The integration of DigitalPersona’s fingerprint recognition technology with IGEL thin clients provides a proven and reliable solution for this market.”

Reported in BiometricUpdate.com, earlier this month, DigitalPersona announced that its Eikon Touch 500 with TouchChip TCS1 Sensor and U.are.U 4500 Reader UID edition scanners have now been certified by the Standardisation Testing and Quality Certification (STQC) directorate in India.

In 2012, it was announced that a separate iteration from DigitalPersona’s U.are.U fingerprpint modules would be used as a part of India’s UID project.

Also last year, the company appointed Richard Agostinelli as president and chief executive officer.
