Secunet manages technical implementation of interoperability testing for electronic passports

Categories Biometrics News

Secunet Security Networks AG has announced it will assume the technical management and performance of an international ePassport interoperability test, as part of this year’s Security Document World conference and exhibition in London.

According to the company, the last major ePassport tests were carried out in Prague in 2008. The focus of this year’s tests will be on conformity with the new Supplemental Aaccess Control security standard, which has been defined as the new standard by the ICAO with effect from 2015 onwards.

Security Document World’s 2013 conference and exhibition takes place May 21-23, 2013 and takes place in London.

Secunet says it specified and devised this interoperability test and offers manufacturers of identity documents and the providers and integrators of inspection systems the opportunity to test their production and inspection procedures before the new mechanism comes into force.

As we reported previously, Secunet also acted as the technical lead in the 2006 Berlin ePassport interoperability tests.

“We are very proud that the next interoperability test will take place as part of Security Document World. We selected secunet AG to perform the test because we knew we could rely on the company’s extensive international experience and because of the high levels of security standards in the German market,” Mark Lockie, Director of SDW said.

More information about the SDW InterOp tests and on how they can be observed by interested organizations can be seen on the SDW 2013 website.

Earlier this year, Secunet’s EasyGo e-gate system was named the IT Project of the Year in 2012 in the Czech Republic. The Czech border police put the award-winning e-gate into operation at Prague’s Václav Havel Airport at the end of 2011.
