Hoyos Labs nabs Envisioneering Innovation & Design award at CES

Hoyos Labs has just announced that it has won the Envisioneering Innovation & Design Award at ShowStoppers at this year’s CES for its recently-launched HoyosID app.

The new app, as we reported yesterday in BIometricUpdate.com was just launched and is a multi-biometric recognition system for mobile devices that uses the face, iris and periocular region of users for recognition and authentication.

“My team is honored to have been recognized by ShowStoppers at CES for the launch of HoyosID, our new identity assertion platform,” Hector Hoyos, CEO and founder of Hoyos Labs said. “For years, we have collectively worked to combine our knowledge and expertise in the biometrics, IT and technology fields to create an attractive product that would secure the material of both individuals and companies in a convenient and cost-effective way, without requiring people to carry around an additional gadget to keep personal information safe.”

“People are beginning to realize that we need a better system in place to keep our private material protected, and usernames, passwords and log-ins are, without a doubt, not the solution – they have failed us all too many times and are so vulnerable to hacks,” Hoyos said. “Imagining a world in which all we need to access our personal accounts on the Internet is our face and a smartphone – no additional tokens – has now become a reality, and we are eager to expand the applications of this technology further into the financial services space.”

Also, earlier this week, Hoyos announced the formalization of its Biometric Open Standards Protocols. BOPS – as the company calls it – comprises a set of rules that govern secure communications among a variety of client devices, including mobile phones.
