Alcatel OneTouch, IriTech, set to unveil iris recognition tablet at MWC 2014
Alcatel OneTouch and IriTech will launch a tablet with integrated iris recognition, during the Mobile World Congress 2014, the two companies have announced.
“There will be a myriad of applications derived from iris recognition enabled mobile devices,” Daniel Daehoon Kim, CEO for IriTech said. “We are glad of this opportunity to prove its feasibility. Our goal for this prototype is to define a new era for it is recognition technology generally and a benchmark for Iritech’s product particularly.”
Specifically, the two companies have collaborated to install a small iris recognition camera module and IR LED, as well as IriTech’s matching algorithm into a tablet. According to the companies, future applications include second factor authentication for mobile financial transactions, OTP generationa dna remote vehicle control.
“Ensuring a great user experience is at the heart of how we design software and hardware,” Dan Dery, Chief Marketing Officer for Alcatel Onetouch said. “We work closely with our partners to develop new approaches like iris scanning and are pleased to demonstrate a working example at Mobile World Congress.”
Reported previously in BiometricUpdate.com, IriTech was recently awarded STQC certification for its iris authentication devices to be used in India’s UIDAI project.
