Zetes wins Ugandan contract for biometric voter registration kits

 

Zetes has just announced that it has won a contract to supple Uganda with 4,250 biometric kits for citizen identification.

According to the company, the project is being delivered in conjunction with MFI, Zetes’ main local contractor and partner. The biometrics kits will be used for voter registration in the run up to the presidential elections, which are set to take place in 2016.

This project will make use of Zetes’ new generation of biometric kits, which includes options for peripherals including a camera, fingerprint scanner, digital signature bed and a flatbed scanner.

The first kits have already been delivered and enrollment is set to begin in mid April, 2014.
According to Zetes, Uganda is the first Enligh-speaking coutry in teh Central African region to use the Zetes kits for a people ID project. Zetes says the contract will contribute tothe financial results of the Zetes Group for 2014.

Reported previously, Zetes recently teamed up with Gemalto to provide Belgian ePassports.
