Google’s Nexus 6 to include an embedded fingerprint sensor: insider
Google’s upcoming Nexus 6 smartphone could come with an embedded fingerprint sensor, according to prevailing rumors.
Reported in Android Geeks, a ‘trusted insider’ told the website that Google would team up with LG to develop the new device and that the search giant is in advanced talks with “several Asian fingerprint sensor suppliers.”
The Nexus 6, said to be based on LG’s G3 smartphone is said to likely borrow the Quad HD resolution of the G3 and will probably embed the fingerprint sensor on the front of the phone.
As we’ve reported extensively in BiometricUpdate.com, Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone – the Galaxy S5 – includes an embedded fingerprint sensor, as does Apple’s iPhone 5S.
According to a recent market research report, it is expected that 525 million smartphones with fingerprint sensors will ship in 2017 – that’s up from 45.7 million in 2013.
