NASSIT Intros Biometric Registration System For Pensioners

The National Social Security and Insurance Trust of Sierre Leone (NASSIT) announced on Thursday it has operationalized the Biometric Registration System for its pensioners.

The system uses a service-oriented architecture for central biometric data storage collected from both contributors and pensioners and uses the finger as the primary tool for biometric recognition, while facial recognition acts as the secondary means of verification. The system captures three fingers from both hands of the individual.

The NASSIT team can visit any location with mobile Biometric Registration kits to register or verify them with the Biometric Registration System for those pensioners or soon to be pensioners who are incapacitated or unable to visit any of the NASSIT offices.

The Biometric Registration System is closely integrated with the Trust’s NASSIT Area Pensions Operating System application, which ensures the effective use of identity management at various levels of contribution management, benefits processing and pensions payment

The system can also help to verify the identity of respective members during contingency management, claims management and pensions, and other enterprise-wide services. This will cut down on any potential monetary loss through mistaken identities and false contingency claims.
