Morpho & Dutch government work to upgrade biometric identification & travel documents
Morpho announced it is working alongside the Dutch government to develop highly secure biometric travel documents and identity cards that it says will ultimately protect travelers against document fraud.
The ID card and travel document datapage now feature Morpho’s patented Stereo Laser Image technology, which is comprised of a three-dimensional image reproducing the document holder’s portrait.
The SLI feature is designed to provide authenticity of the document’s primary image in an effort to curb photo falsification.
There is also the added security layer of a laser perforated number (Tilted Laser Number), which can only be seen when it is tilted against the light, found on the primary image of each document.
“We have a longstanding relationship with the Dutch government and a clear understanding of their document security challenges,” said Jessica Westerouen van Meeteren, executive vice president of Morpho’s government identity solutions division. “This has enabled us to design highly secure biometric documents that meet the government’s specific needs while complying with strict industry standards.”
