Texas jail adds biometrics to data-sharing system
Last week, the Cameron County Commissioners’ Court in Texas approved a contract to license additional Odyssey services for use by the county jail division.
Tyler Technologies will implement biometrics and electronic signature technology in addition to the county’s current Odyssey system, which allows attorneys, judges, county employees and the public to share and view case information.
According to a report in CorrectionsOne.com, the new technology will allow the jail division to scan and store fingerprint information and to accept electronic signatures instead of using pen and paper.
The new software and maintenance of the program will cost the county $359,671.
