Imprivata makes enhancements to biometric verification solution for healthcare
Imprivata announced it has made several technology enhancements to Imprivata OneSign Secure Walk-Away, a biometric verification solution designed to protect healthcare organizations against unauthorized access to patient records at shared clinical workstations.
Imprivata OneSign Secure Walk-Away is HIPAA compliant, boosts clinical workflow efficiency, and includes advanced 3D camera technology, video tracking and facial recognition software to deliver an active presence detection solution that safeguards patient information.

Having shared workstations in hallways, patient rooms and other public areas of the hospital will always pose the risk of exposing patient healthcare information to unauthorized access. Imprivata’s solution resolves this issue by automatically logging providers out of workstations when they leave and re-authenticating them once they return, enabling healthcare providers to no longer have to manually log in and out of systems and applications every time, so they can focus on patient care.
Imprivata OneSign Secure Walk-Away also decreases the chances that providers enter information when they are unknowingly logged into a workstation under someone else’s credentials, which sometimes occurs in a busy healthcare environment. This ensures that only the previously authenticated user can continue their session. In the event that other providers try to use the workstation, they will be prompted to enter their own authentication credentials.
