SmartMetric embeds Cortex processor into fingerprint activated card
SmartMetric announced it has added a Cortex processor to its biometric controlled credit, debit and identity cards, which improves the speed of fingerprint processing and boosts power in undergoing a range of added processing functions.
In the press release, SmartMetric said the new Cortex embedded-fingerprint activated card not only incorporates a “powerful” fingerprint scanner for biometric activation but is backed by enough processing power to add new services on the card itself for both security and user applications.
“This is nothing short of a revolution in miniature computing in a device that can perform many the computing functions of a tablet but a thousand times smaller,” said the SmartMetric president and CEO Chaya Hendrick.
The announcement comes a few months after SmartMetric said it would continue to develop its biometrics-activated payment card with an embedded fingerprint sensor, and once it’s been fully launched, will release its other biometric offerings.
SmartMetric will now market its biometric card solution for the payments card industry, with the goal to manufacture 50 million cards over the next 12 to 18 months, and is also releasing a fingerprint identification and access control card that will offer biometric security in a credit card sized device
In addition, SmartMetric said it has been in talks with many investment brokers in New York and is currently considering a few different proposals for funding its next round of funding which will go towards biometric card mass production.
