Suprema’s new fingerprint algorithms certified by FBI – Suprema announced that its fingerprint image compression algorithms has received the latest version of FBI WSQ (Wavelet Scalar Quantization) certification.

Bill Gates talks biometric identification, banking for emerging countries – Bill Gates recently said his foundation was ready to partner with the banking industry to develop affordable digital payments and biometric identity authorization services via mobile phones to individuals in emerging countries.

Indian gov’t launches biometric employee attendance system – The Indian government is making its employee attendance records available online. Using the Aadhaar system, employee attendance data will be tracked in real-time and made publicly visible via an online portal.

South Africa implements NEC biometric ID solution: NEC video case study – NEC recently posted a case study video that details how the South African government implemented the company’s automated fingerprint identification system to replace its previous paper system.

FBI seeks to add Rapid DNA to biometric database – The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation recently announced a plan to accelerate the collection of DNA profiles for the government’s massive new biometric identification database.
