Fingerprint Cards AB and Atmel Corporation become strategic partners

 

Fingerprint Cards AB and Atmel Corporation have entered into a strategic partnership to jointly develop combined capacitive touchscreens and touch fingerprint area sensor technology for smart devices.

The joint solution offered by both companies will aim to accelerate an OEM’s time-to-market by offering must-have high-performance security and user interface solutions.

Fingerprint Cards is thrilled to team up with Atmel to bring a unified solution of biometric fingerprint sensing and touchscreens using Atmel’s widely adopted maXTouch controllers.”

As mobile devices become an integral part of everyday life, consumers are demanding ever-more sophisticated features from flawless touchscreen user interfaces and convenient security options such as fingerprint-based user verification.

The two companies aim to merge the many synergies between fingerprint and touchscreens in order to co-develop and merge their respective solutions, in order to provide intelligent user interfaces. In this collaboration, Fingerprint Cards will make Atmel’s award-winning maXTouch technologies interoperable with its family of fingerprint sensors. The goal is to integrate both technologies into an enhanced, cohesive solution for a secure and flawless user experience.
