NEC releases mobile fingerprint collection device
NEC Corporation of America announced it has released the NeoScan 45 mobile fingerprint collection device that is designed for public safety applications in the field.
NEC’s NeoScan 45 offers top speed and accuracy for mobile fingerprint roll and plain capture, including simultaneous two-finger capture.
The device is equipped with a large (1.6” x 1.5”) scanning platen for high quality images and greater accuracy, complying with National Institute of Standards and Technology standards.
NeoScan 45 is a fingerprint acquisition profile level 45 device. It is only .68 inches in width and 9 ounces in weight, making it the thinnest and lightest fingerprint capture device currently available on the market.
The device is compatible with wireless communication protocols including Bluetooth and WiFi, and can be integrated with smart devices with Apple iOS and Android operating systems, such as the Apple iPhone 6, 6 Plus and Samsung Galaxy models.
NeoScan 45 features a larger size integrated biometric sherlock sensor, with light emitting sensor technology that effectively captures single, dual, plain and roll fingerprint impressions. The device has also been successfully tested against the FBI Image Quality Specifications Appendix F Mobile ID FAP 45 specifications.
As a result, NeoScan 45 is more accurate, has less sequence errors, and offers a higher rate of identification.
“The NeoScan 45 represents a tremendous achievement for the NEC Biometrics Solutions Division,” said Raffie Beroukhim, VP of the biometrics solutions division at NEC Corporation of America. “Designed in California, it is the outcome of our global research and engineering leading to the development of the form and function of the device; all of which have been directed by the voice of our clients and meeting the performance requirements of leading public safety authorities.”
NeoScan 45’s key features include a simple and intuitive interface, built-in support of FBI NIST Fingerprint Image Quality check for immediate feedback on the quality of the captured fingerprints, support for multiple fingerprint capture profiles (ie. simultaneous capture of two fingers, four fingers, or ten individually rolled fingerprints), and support for the capture and storage of multiple fingerprint sets from different individuals which are later downloaded to a device.
