Netatmo develops smart camera with facial recognition technology

Connected products firm Netatmo has developed a new camera that can ID the person entering or exiting your home using facial recognition technology, according to a report by Gizmodo.

Netamo Welcome is a 170-degree Wi-Fi connected camera that uses facial recognition technology to notify the owner who is coming in and out of their house.

The camera can be configured to notify the home owner when specific individuals enter their home (their kids, for example), as well as alerts the owner when a stranger breaks into the house.

To set up authorized individuals, you can use the camera to take photos of the people you want to be identifiable.

The device is self-learning, meaning that the more photos it takes over time of the authorized individuals, the better it becomes in identifying them.

The company has yet to release pricing for Netatmo Welcome, but said it will be available internationally sometime in the second quarter.
