The 8th IAPR International Conference on Biometrics (ICB 2015) will be held May 19 to 22 in Phuket, Thailand.

The annual international biometrics conference is the amalgamation of AVBPA (Audio- and Video-based Person Authentication), ICBA (International Conference on Biometric Authentication) and other biometric workshops.

ICB is an official conference of the IAPR Technical Committee on Biometrics (TC4) and is also co-sponsored by IEEE Biometrics Council.

Keynote speakers include Kuntal Sengupta of Synaptics Inc., who will deliver his presentation entitled “Biometrics for the mobile space: maintaining a fine balance between security and convenience”; Sébastien Marcel of Idiap research institute will discuss “Reproducible research in Biometrics: moving to the BEAT”, and Yan Shuicheng of the National University of Singapore will address “Deep Learning and Biometrics”.

ICB 2015 will feature oral sessions, posters, tutorials, demonstrations, competitions and a government track to coincide with the beginning of ASEAN Economic Community 2015 (AEC2015).

There will be a total of six biometrics algorithm competitions, including the Fingerprint Minutiae Selection Competition, Finger Vein Recognition, One-handed Keystroke Biometric Identification Competition, Person Verification from Retina, Counter Measures to Finger Vein Spoofing Attacks, and Cross-sensor Iris Recognition.

The main objective of biometric competitions is to introduce benchmarking of algorithms relating to biometric identification using transparent evaluation protocols.

The conference will cover a range of topics and its organizers are inviting papers that advance biometric technologies, sensor design, feature extraction and matching algorithms, analysis of security and privacy, and evaluation of social impact of biometrics technology.
