CLEAR names former TSA policy maker as director of security operations

CLEAR announced it has named Chris McLaughlin the company’s director of security operations.

McLaughlin joins CLEAR from the Transportation Security Administration, where he most recently served as federal security director for the state of Colorado – a position he served from 2009 to 2011 and 2013 to 2015.

In this role, he managed a staff of more than 1,400 and oversaw passenger and baggage screening operations, as well as airport and air carrier regulatory compliance at 14 commercial airports in Colorado, including Denver International Airport.

He also served as assistant administrator for security operations from 2011 to 2013. In this role, he led a team of 56,000 employees across more than 450 airports nationwide and managed a budget of $4 billion.

As a national policy maker, McLaughlin worked closely with national industry associations, other federal agencies, and Congress, in which he helped in shaping and advancing the agency’s current philosophy of risked based security.

“I am thrilled that Chris is joining CLEAR’s leadership team,” said CLEAR CEO Caryn Seidman-Becker. “Chris’ experience at TSA – leading its aviation security operations and in the field, combined with his airline industry background, make him an excellent addition to the team as we drive Clear’s mission of strengthening security and redefining the consumer experience.”

Previously reported, Clear partnered with the San Francisco Giants to provide existing Clear members and Giants fans who sign up for Clear Fast Access access to enter AT&T Park through a designated lane at the Willie Mays Gate.
