Galaxy S6 receives update to improve fingerprint authentication

 

Samsung is releasing an update this week for its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge to improve its biometric fingerprint detection system, as well as processing issues, according to a report by UnlockPWD.

The update release note does not specify exactly how it will improve the fingerprint detection system, which is the main authentication method for unlocking the phone and performing digital payments.

Other improvements included in the update relate to applications and compatibility with accessories such when using Bluetooth,

The improvements and changes included in the update will differ based on regions and models.

The update began a limited roll-out last week and will slowly being released to Galaxy S6 users around the world in the coming weeks.

Previously reported, Synaptics CEO Richard Bergman confirmed in an investor’s meeting last month that the company’s small area touch fingerprint sensor is embedded in the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Edge smartphones.
