Secunet extends biometric border control solution in Prague airport
Secunet announced it is providing an additional ten eGates for Prague’s Václav Havel airport as the Czech border police expand the EasyGO project.
The move follows secunet’s successful implementation of the first automated border control gates at the end of 2011.
This latest follow-on order is part of a partnership with Czech IT firm Vitkovice IT Solutions a.s. (VITSOL).
The border control solution EasyGO will secure the external borders of the Schengen area in the future.
The Prague airport now has six additional eGates available in the arrivals area and another four eGates in the departures area.
Secunet easygate thoroughly checks the authenticity of electronic identity documents such as ePassports and electronic identity cards by scanning the facial image of the traveller and comparing the biometric data against the traveller’s live image.
In addition to the turnkey easygates, secunet is providing the entire infrastructure, including the Terminal Control Center, bioserver, and ongoing maintenance for the next few years.
“By choosing the solution from VITSOL/secunet we will continue using a tried and tested system, allowing us to offer our international guests state-of-the-art technology and a high level of security,” said Petr Malovec, head of the National Border Situation Centre at the Czech Border Police. “We are happy to base our systems on the German EasyPASS border control system, which has proven its worth with four million passenger crossings up to July 2015.”
Last year, secunet partnered with Bundesdruckerei to implement the EasyPASS border control solution for the German federal police at the major German airports.
