Clear biometric technology being introduced at Baltimore-Washington airport

The Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport will introduce their fingerprint recognition and iris scanning solution next month as a security clearance option to all travellers enrolled in the Clear Fast Access program, according to a report by the Suffield Times.

Clear said its kiosks might be integrated into the Transportation Safety Management’s existing Pre-Test system at BWI’s B and D concourses.

The biometric kiosks are currently installed at 12 airports in the country, enabling members to bypass the TSA ticket check by verifying their identity with a fingerprint scan and proceeding to the screening line.

“We’re overjoyed to convey CLEAR to BWI, one of the crucial country’s fastest-growing airports and one our CLEAR individuals have asked be added to our community,” said Caryn Seidman Becker, Clear CEO. “Expanding our east coast presence and becoming a member of the DC Metro Space is a 2015 precedence for us and we’re extremely joyful to be carrying out this in partnership with BWI.”

BWI spokesperson Jonathan Dean said Clear would offer passengers with “any other safety choice and enhancement” on the airport, which stays “dedicated to offering a protected and environment friendly commute revel in” for all travellers.

Those individuals interested in registering in the CLEAR program can do so online via the Clear website, or in person at BWI’s A, B and D concourses.

Previously reported, Alaska Airlines is nearly four months into a new pilot program in which it is using CLEAR’s biometric authentication technology to verify the identities of frequent travellers flying out of Mineta San Jose International Airport instead of checking their IDs and boarding passes,
