Ideal Innovations awarded $4.97M biometric support contract
Ideal Innovations, Inc. (I3) announced it has been awarded a $4.97 million Space And Naval Warfare System Center Atlantic contract to provide biometric support for the Afghanistan government.
The contract is in support of the Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence/Foreign Military Sales (PEO C4I/FMS to provide Afghan Automated Biometrics Identification System (AABIS) Maintenance, Operations and Sustainment for the Afghan National Biometrics program in Afghanistan.
The AABIS contract provides capacity building support to the Afghan Ministry of Interior Biometrics Center with specialized biometrics training, systems administration of complex biometrics Information Technology (IT) systems, subsystems and peripherals, upgrades and sustainment to proprietary software that these systems utilize.
The program involves extensive coordination and cooperation with the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan (NTM-A)/Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan (CSTC-A) and Afghan Ministries, and is focused on providing a long-term enduring capability that is fully resourced by the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GIRoA).
The I3 Team is comprised of U.S. and Afghan operations, IT, and forensic science experts.

I3 provides a range of biometric examination services, including expert fingerprint identification, latent print identification comparisons, data base system administration, information technologies, Automated Biometric Information System support and biometric data enrollment services.
Previously reported, speakers at a series of Institute for War & Peace Reporting (IWPR) organized debates held Afghanistan said the introduction of biometric identification cards could prevent voter fraud in Afghanistan’s elections and ultimately make it a more fair electoral process.
