IDGA to host the Homeland Security Week awards ceremony in October
The Institute for Defense and Government Advancement (IDGA) announced it will hold the Homeland Security Week awards ceremony on October 9th at the Sheraton Pentagon City in Arlington, Virginia.
The awards ceremony, which will be held on the last day of Homeland Security Week, will recognize the top achievements by the Homeland Security community.
The awards will be judged by the Homeland Security Week 2015 Advisory Board, which comprises of some of the industry’s top experts including Janice Kephart, CEO of Secure Identity & Biometrics Association (SIBA).
The rest of the advisory board includes Nelson Balido, CEO of Border Commerce and Security Council; David V. Aguilar, Global Security & Intelligence Strategies partner and former acting commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection; Allen Gina, co-founder of CT Strategies and former assistant commissioner for U.S Customs and Border Protection’s International Trade; Ron Colburn, former national deputy chief of U.S. Customs and Border Protection; Brandon Behlendorf, senior researcher for the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism; Doyel Shamley, CEO of Veritas Research Consulting; Evan Scott, president of ESGI; Gregory D. Fechner, director of Crestron Mid-Atlantic, Inc.’s US federal market; and Sylvia Longmire, owner of Longmire Consulting.
The 2015 HSW Award categories include HSW Person of the Year, which recognizes an individual who has been delivering innovation, effectiveness, and continued improvement to the homeland security strategy; HSW Public/Private Partnership of the Year, which recognizes the partnership that has been most effective in achieving the desired goal of the DHS; and the HSW Technology Innovation of the Year, which recognizes a technology that has played a critical role in achieving a strategic priority of the DHS in a cost effective and efficient way.
Last year’s Homeland Security Week 2014 conference and trade show featured over 40 high level presentations on Homeland Security, more than 60 exhibitors, and over 700 attendees.
