NEC facial recognition software deployed by Arizona Department of Transportation

NEC Corporation of America announced that Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has selected and deployed NEC’s NeoFace facial recognition software.

The automated facial recognition solution uses NEC’s NeoFace Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) based biometric solution through a cloud platform.

NeoFace will help improve the credential issuance process of ADOT, which currently has a database of about 7.7 million driver’s license and identification records with roughly 16 million images.

The facial recognition software interfaces with credential issuance processes to ultimately lower any fraudulent identity activities. This cloud-based implementation provides ADOT with a proven, reliable, off-site solution.

The solution also includes NEC’s fraud investigation tool NeoFace Reveal, which enables ADOT to open investigation cases and conduct a search for photographic images in an effort to match them against the driver license and identification card records found within the state database.

The NEC NeoFace solution also provides ADOT with a range of benefits including cloud hosting that enables facial forensic image processing and matching with outsourced support and maintenance, highly accurate facial identification, image enhancement tools and multi-touch user interface using Microsoft Windows 8, and complete scalability.

Previously reported, NEC Corporation of America announced that its Integra ID 5 biometric software solution has successfully interfaced with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Next Generation Identification (NGI) platform’s Rap Back service.
