First Internet Bank deploys EyeVerify biometrics technology

First Internet Bank deploys EyeVerify biometrics technology

EyeVerify is now providing Eyeprint ID authentication technology for First Internet Bank to use in its personal mobile banking application.

As a result, First Internet Bank customers are able to log in using their smartphone’s camera and an “eyeprint” instead of a user ID and password.

EyeVerify’s Eyeprint ID technology uses the camera on iPhone and Android phones to capture an image of the eye and matches the unique vein pattern to verify identity.

The solution provides automatic authentication if the eye image matches the eyeprint registered with the device.

“Eyeprint ID is the latest demonstration of First Internet Bank’s commitment to customer-centric digital banking,” said David Becker, president and CEO of First Internet Bank. “Eyeprint ID comes quickly after our introduction of Touch ID authentication earlier this year, which enables customers to log in with a fingerprint. Biometric technology allows us to provide innovative solutions to our customers’ need for secure, convenient account access.”

Eyeprint ID access is now available through the First IB personal banking mobile app, for both iPhone and Android users.

Previously reported, Chris Barnett, EyeVerify’s EVP of Global Marketing and Sales discussed how EyeVerify’s Eyeprint ID software lets individuals open their mobile devices, log into an application, or verify a mobile payment just by looking at their phone.
