Precise Biometrics and FPC fingerprint technology integrated in Meizu smartphone

Precise Biometrics announced it has partnered with Fingerprint Cards (FPC) to integrate their respective fingerprint recognition technologies in Meizu’s new Android smartphone Pro 5.

Precise Biometrics’ fingerprint recognition product for mobile devices, Precise BioMatch Mobile, and FPC’s touch fingerprint sensor FPC1155, have been integrated in the new Chinese smartphone.

The integration will generate license revenue starting from the third quarter, the value of which is based on the number of sensors FPC delivers to the mobile phone manufacturer and cannot be forecasted at this point.

”We are pleased that the supplier has chosen to integrate Precise BioMatch Mobile in another of its smartphones,” said Håkan Persson, CEO of Precise Biometrics. “Precise BioMatch Mobile has now been integrated in 30 smartphones from over 15 different vendors during 2015. We have won the trust of both leading and upcoming smartphone vendors through our high performance fingerprint software that offers the best combination of user convenience, speed and security.”

Sales from the FPC1155 for this smartphone model are included in FPC’s previously reported revenue guidance of approximately 2,500 MSEK (USD $268.2 million) for 2015.

“Meizu is a leading smartphone manufacturer in China and we are proud that Meizu selected FPC1155 for Pro 5, following up on the success of MX5, also embedding FPC1155,” said FPC CEO Jörgen Lantto. “FPC1155 supports 360 degree finger rotation capability, fast response time and industry leading 3D image quality.”

Previously reported, Precise Biometrics partnered with Fingerprint Cards (FPC) to integrate its mobile fingerprint recognition software, Precise BioMatch Mobile, in Huawei’s new Honor 7i smartphone.
