ZTE AXON mini smartphone features multi-factor biometric authentication
ZTE officially announced the upcoming global launch of its AXON mini smartphone, which supports fingerprint, voice control and eye scan-enabled biometric authentication.
As previously reported, Fingerprint Cards (FPC) partnered with Precise Biometrics to integrate their respective fingerprint recognition technologies in ZTE’s Axon Mini device.
First unveiled in July, ZTE’s AXON mini is the world’s first smartphone to feature a pressure-sensitive touch screen that recognizes varying levels of touch pressure for enhanced functions and experience.
“Devices in our ZTE AXON product lines are designed entirely with consumers in mind and to be the nerve center of everything they do,” said Adam Zeng, CEO at ZTE mobile devices. “Our high-end flagship strategy is now in full swing and we believe we have all of the ingredients to become a leading consumer electronics brand globally.”
The voice search function on AXON mini can be activated within 1.2 seconds, and includes voice translation support for English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean, for real-time voice translation.
ZTE is offering all versions of ZTE AXON mini in China online on the MyZTE store and JD.com, as well as in several major retail outlets.
In the coming months, it will expand ZTE AXON mini’s availability to Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Russia, Japan, India, Australia, France, Germany, Turkey, Spain and Italy.
The Chinese manufacturer also unveiled details about the ZTE AXON Watch, a smartwatch it developed with Tencent that runs on Tencent OS and supports both voice and gesture control.
The ZTE AXON Watch can be used for both fitness and health monitoring, and supports a range of other applications including phone calls and messaging.
The smartwatch will be available for purchase in China via ZTE’s MyZTE store from October 27.
