BIO-key to demonstrate fingerprint readers at Microsoft Windows 10 events

Biometrics firm BIO-key International, Inc. announced that as Microsoft’s exclusive biometric solution partner, the company will demonstrate its fingerprint readers at the Microsoft Ignite your Business with Windows 10 and Office 2016 launch events.

On November 3, Microsoft will launch a 12-city event series designed to educate IT professionals, technical decision makers and enterprise developers about Windows 10 and Office 2016.

The recently launched Windows 10 has a range of new security features, including Hello, which provides biometric authentication logon capabilities to Windows customers.

“We are excited to see innovative partners like BIO-key offering high-quality biometric accessories that work seamlessly with Windows Hello,” said Margaret Arakawa, general manager of Microsoft’s US Windows & Devices. “Now any user with a Windows 10 laptop, tablet or desktop can benefit from a more personal and secure authentication experience.”

BIO-key will be demonstrating its new series of Windows Hello-compatible compact fingerprint readers, SideSwipe and EcoID.

The low-cost, high-performance, durable, mobile fingerprint readers are natively integrated with Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 allowing customers to replace passwords with secure fingerprint biometric data.

The new BIO-key fingerprint readers offer plug-and-play functionality with all the necessary software, which can be installed automatically via Microsoft Windows Update.

“One of the most compelling new features of Windows 10 is Windows Hello, which makes the computing experience more personal and secure, while incorporating enterprise class biometric security into the operating system,” said Jim Sullivan, BIO-key SVP global sales. “Biometrics have emerged as the preferred authentication method for many users and organizations, and being central to Windows Hello reflects that. We are pleased to be offering high-quality and affordable biometric accessories to the Windows 10 community of enterprise users.”

The 12-city, month-long tour will kick off in Seattle and San Francisco on November 3rd and conclude in Dallas on December 3rd.

Previously reported, BIO-key International has raised $8.45 million through the issuance of shares of its Series A-1 Convertible Preferred Stock, at a conversion price of $0.30 per share, to an unnamed Hong Kong based security technology investor.
