Securiport honored for biometric identification solution for border security

Securiport announced it has been honored for the best biometric identification system for border security at the 2015 Homeland Security Awards, held by Government Security News (GSN) Magazine.

To be presented on December 8 in Washington, DC., the annual awards program honors the top vendors of IT and physical security solutions as well as the federal, state, county and municipal government agencies.

Securiport’s Civil Aviation and Immigration Security Services offer global governments a full suite of security products that effectively perform biometric authentication of travelers at immigration posts.

The company’s services also provide a proprietary intelligent information management and profiling system for the identification and control of potential security risks, criminal activity, and health threats. This is accomplished by comparing biometric data and traveler information collected during immigration processing.

Securiport’s biometric identification systems for border security can recognize and identify people connected to possible security threats, including links to global watch lists and security databases such as Interpol.

These technologies include an automated fingerprint identification system, which performs fingerprint checks to quickly identify wanted individuals by comparing a scanned fingerprint against known records in local and international watch-lists.

Additionally, Securiport’s multimodal biometric recognition system incorporates a combination of fingerprint, iris, and face recognition analyses to uncover false and double identity cases in real time.

“The Homeland Security award for Best Biometrics Identification System for Border Security from Government Security News for physical security products and solutions serves as third-party validation of the need for deploying biometric identification systems for border safety to mitigate imminent security threats globally and right now,” said Dr. Segura, president and CEO of Securiport. “We are honored to have won this award, and given the recent cross-border terrorism events around the world in Europe, Africa and elsewhere, SecuriPort is ready to provide the right biometric solution to solve today’s most pressing security needs.”

European border management

With the ongoing terror attacks in Europe, Securiport recently presented European border management agency Frontex with new high-tech security solutions for managing the critical migrant crisis, combating terrorism, and enhancing border security.

Frontex liaises closely with other European Union partners involved in issues regarding freedom, security and justice such as Europol, EASO, Eurojust, FRA or CEPOL, as well as with customs authorities to promote overall cohesion.

Additionally, Frontex also works closely with the border control authorities of non-EU/Schengen countries.
