BioID releases facial recognition login app for iOS

BioID Gmbh announced it has released the BioID facial recognition app for iOS products, which enables developers and companies to integrate biometric authentication capabilities into their mobile platforms.

By adding just a few lines of code, companies can provide a secure and convenient login and transaction authorization method in which end users can authorize themselves by taking a selfie.

Face recognition provides strong multifactor security with a seamless user experience, while the patented liveness detection feature ensures that attackers are unable to dupe the system with a photo.

“Traditional password authentication falls apart on mobile devices. Because strong passwords are so difficult to enter on a mobile keyboard, most people either choose extremely simple passwords or keep themselves logged in,” said Ho Chang, CEO of BioID. “Our app makes it easy for mobile developers and companies to offer multifactor authentication with the simplicity of face recognition – no learning required. We handle the intricacies of biometrics so they don’t have to.”

Using the BioID app, developers can integrate their mobile websites and apps directly by including a link to open the app and supporting BioID Connect, an OpenID Connect and OAuth2.0 identity service based on the BioID Web Service.

Their users can then download the app and enroll. The free app as well as a white-label version are now available for download through Apple’s App Store and BioID’s website.

Previously reported, Branddocs partnered with BioID to integrate BioID`s mobile multimodal biometric authentication solution into their eIDAS cloud solutions platform.
