Border Security & Intelligence Summit to discuss biometrics

 

Defense Strategies Institute announced that it will host the upcoming U.S. Border Security & Intelligence Summit, where attendees will work towards a cohesive and holistic approach to intelligence sharing and operational capabilities.

To be held on January 26 and 27 at the Mary M. Gates Learning Center in Alexandria, Virginia, the event will focus on several key topics including maintaining a biometrics focus on maximizing mobile and multimodal technology innovation at the border and ports of entry.

The educational and training “Town Hall” forum will attract thought leaders and key policy-makers across DHS, DoD, IC, federal and state agencies, industry and academia for actionable discussions and debate.

“We have created a summit that will bring together a variety of stakeholders in order to build out two days of discussion and debates that tackle many of the areas involved in enhancing effective and efficient intelligence sharing and operational capabilities amongst the border security community,” said Monica Mckenzie, senior partner at Defense Strategies Institute.

The lineup of speakers includes Frank Taylor, Under Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis, DHS; John Mulligan, Deputy Director, National Counter Terrorism Center; Peter Verga, SES, Defense Advisor to the Secretary, DHS; Peter T Edge, Executive Associate Director, Homeland Security Investigations, ICE; David J. Glawe, Assistant Commissioner for Intelligence, CBP; Anh Duong, SES, Director, Borders & Maritime, S&T Directorate, DHS; Dr. Mark Williamson, Director General, DRDC Centre for Security Science, Canada; Douglas Poole, Assistant Administrator for Intelligence, DEA; and Joseph Milligan, Deputy Branch Head, Office of the DoD Executive Agent for MDA, OPNAV N2N6E3 Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) Branch.

Topics will include countering violent extremism through improving the collection, analysis, production and dissemination of intelligence; biometrics focus on maximizing mobile and multi-modal technology innovation at the border and ports of entry with confirmed sessions on Entry/Exit program, FBI CJIS, DRDC Canada, OBIM; pushing out homeland security beyond the U.S. borders; and Maritime Domain Awareness focus.

Other topics will include targeting technology that improves intelligence sharing and real time situational awareness of the threat environment; combating illegal trafficking, narco-terrorist threats and TCOs through strengthening joint investigations, intelligence and information sharing, and S&T cooperation; and advancing Joint and Interagency Task Force initiatives.

Registration for the summit is now open with limited seating available. Active military, government and state personnel will be provided with complimentary access to the summit.
