EyeLock presents iris authentication for automotive applications at CES

This week at CES, EyeLock is showcasing its iris authentication technology in automotive applications at the VOXX International booth.

VOXX International acquired a majority interest in EyeLock in September 2015.

EyeLock is demonstrating a proof of concept that validates the driver and authorizes the start of a vehicle. EyeLock’s iris authentication can also offer individual user authentication as well as a fully customized driving experience with personalized driver settings including seat and mirror positions, radio presets, and other features.

Once integrated into the vehicle, the authentication process takes less than five seconds to complete and is as simple as looking in the mirror. By ensuring only authenticated drivers are behind the wheel, the EyeLock solution can provide benefits for usage based insurance applications as well as fleet management.

“This technology brings an entirely new level of security, personalization, and connectivity to the automotive space,” said Anthony Antolino, Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer for EyeLock LLC. “We continue to work with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) to accelerate the adoption of EyeLock technology in a wide range of vehicles.”

Last April, VOXX Electronics Corporation announced that it had integrated EyeLock’s iris identity authentication technology into a 2015 Jeep Wrangler, which validates the driver and authorizes the vehicle to start.
