Precise Biometrics and FPC fingerprint technology in new devices from Huawei and LG
Yesterday at Mobile World Congress it was announced that Precise Biometrics and Fingerprint Cards (FPC) fingerprint technology has been integrated into LG’s flagship smartphone model G5 and Huawei’s new 2-in-1 device MateBook. The products use Precise Biometrics’ product for fingerprint recognition in mobile devices, Precise BioMatch Mobile. The G5 features FPC’s touch fingerprint sensor FPC1035 and the MateBook features FPC’s touch fingerprint sensor FPC1145.
Jörgen Lantto, CEO of FPC, commented on the MateBook integration: “Huawei is a leading global smartphone manufacturer and we are proud that Huawei selected FPC1145 for their new 2-in-1 device MateBook, following the successful launch of several successful smartphones with FPC touch fingerprint sensors. FPC1145 supports 360 degree finger rotation capability, fast response time and industry leading 3D image quality.”
”We are very pleased that this South Korean vendor has chosen to switch algorithm solution from a local supplier to Precise BioMatch Mobile,” says Håkan Persson, CEO of Precise Biometrics. “It is a sign of strength of our technology and confirms that we offer the best performance for fingerprint recognition. Precise Biometrics fingerprint software is now integrated in products from 30 vendors and has become the preferred choice to ensure a superior user experience and secure identity verification on mobile devices.”
Lantto also commented on the G5 integration, “LG is a leading global smartphone manufacturer and we are proud to provide FPC1035 to LG for G5, following the successful launch of V10 in 2015, also using FPC1035. FPC1035 supports 360 degree finger rotation capability, fast response time and industry leading 3D image quality.”
Just last week Precise Biometrics expanded its licensing agreement with Fingerprint Cards (FPC) to include Precise BioMatch™ Embedded for smart cards. Precise BioMatchTM Embedded is an algorithm solution that offers secure fingerprint recognition for products with small fingerprint sensors and platforms that have limited processing power and memory space, such as smart cards, wearables, locks and cars.
