BluStor offers both enterprise and personal mobile security

Cybercrime and digital identity theft is an urgent and growing global issue. Mobile devices, cloud-based solutions, and related services have repeatedly proven to be vulnerable to increasingly sophisticated cyber attacks. As a result, it has never been more important today to separate digital identity keys from the devices and services that use them. BluStor aims to achieve this security objective for both personal and corporate consumers through its unique identity cards.

“One of the key features of the BluStor card is to eliminate the password in any interaction between a user and a mobile device. This is achieved by supporting multi-factor biometric authentication, to reliably and securely authenticate a user to the card and device,” stated Mark W. Bennett, BluStor CIO.

In March, the firm launched its CyberGate Secure Mobile Briefcase (SMB) for individual consumers. The Secure Mobile Briefcase is a sophisticated, wireless, personal biometric identification and data storage card that fits into a wallet or purse.

The CyberGate platform integrates a comprehensive collection of technology into an ultra-thin form factor similar to the size of a typical credit-card. Utilizing advanced engineering, the card combines high-performance computing with low power consumption, up to 8GB of flash memory, Bluetooth Classic, Bluetooth Low-Energy, a long lasting rechargeable battery combined with the GateKeeper multi-factor biometric security application.

Supporting multi-factor biometric authentication, the card replaces, or can augment, traditional usernames, passwords, and PIN numbers with an ultra-secure, multi-factor biometric authentication system. The system securely stores data only on the device, ensuring that personal information is never exposed to a mobile device or a cloud-based service environment. The card is used in conjunction with a mobile app called GateKeeper, which allows users to safely secure all key data and documents on the card. The app allows users to securely protect all of their usernames, passwords, login details, and personal identity information.

The CyberGate app contains a file vault that allows users to safely store important documents, including photos, medical records, e-mail and other personal data. The app also contains a credit card vault that allows users to store their credit card information and securely retrieve it when needed for online transactions. Most importantly, the mobile app contains its own one time password (OTP) and two-factor authentication (2FA) token generator that allows users to leverage biometrics rather than PIN codes to generate RFC 6238 compatible security tokens in order to log into supported Web sites.

Supporting ultra-secure multi-factor biometric authentication, the system provides AutoLogN and the mobile PassWord Vault that enables automatic authentication to your devices and logging into Web sites without the need for outdated usernames, passwords or PINs.

“Although passwords have been eliminated as a means for authenticating a cardholder to the BluStor card, users, whether enterprise employees or consumers, still need to use the matching IDs and passwords to logon to existing accounts. The BluStor card’s storage can be used as a secure vault to store user IDs and passwords for all accounts,” stated Bennett.

In May, the firm will release its enterprise-class solution known as CyberGate Mobile Enterprise Credentials. The credential solution, not unlike its personal ID counterpart, is also a sophisticated wireless biometric identification and data storage product that can fit safely in a wallet or purse. Supporting ultra-secure multi-factor biometric authentication, Mobile Enterprise Credentials enables automatic authentication to devices and Web sites without the need for outdated usernames, passwords or PINs. The solution offers up to 8GB of storage, and encodes the keys to corporate user’s digital identities, critical data and passwords, thereby separating the “log-in” credentials from vulnerable mobile devices and cloud-based services.

“At BluStor we recognized that effective mobile security required a rethink of what it means to be secure,” stated Bennett. “Our answer is a next generation security platform that leverages field proven technologies and established security methods to provide comprehensive mobile security in real-world environments.”
