Municipalities set up Aadhaar enrollment camps for children under six

Aadhaar enrollment camps for children under six years old were held in various municipalities in India this past weekend.

According to a report in The Hindu, the two day camps were set up at various schools, community centers and government buildings, and parents who hadn’t enrolled their children were encouraged to attend. Parents were also told to produce their own Aadhaar cards and the birth certificates of their children at the camp.

Just last month it was revealed that more than 130 million people used Aadhaar this past March to authenticate their identity and receive a government benefit or service, according to the latest figures submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
