Identity Automation acquires multi-factor authentication firm 2FA
Identity and access management software firm Identity Automation has acquired 2FA, Inc., a cybersecurity firm with a focus in multi-factor authentication and single sign-on (SSO), for an undisclosed amount.
2FA adds nine authentication methods to Identity Automation’s IAM portfolio, making it one of the broadest authentication offerings on the market.
As a leader in authentication, 2FA specializes in industries which typically require stronger authentication, including retail, healthcare, financial services, law enforcement agencies and the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS).
The cybersecurity firm has over 650 customers across 1,000 state and local agencies, which will help accelerate Identity Automation’s growth in the state and local government vertical.
In addition, 2FA expands Identity Automation’s international and U.S. footprint with customers across 25 countries and all 50 states.
“Authentication has become an integral piece of the identity management solution set, and 2FA offers one of the broadest, most well established solutions on the market,” said James Litton, CEO and founder of Identity Automation. “The combination of our IAM technology with 2FA’s multi-factor authentication enables Identity Automation to provide our customers with the most robust IAM and authentication solution in a single software stack, making us an excellent one stop shop choice for IAM and authentication needs.”
2FA adds several authentication capabilities to Identity Automation’s portfolio, including support for nine different forms of authentication including RFID, smart cards, fingerprint biometrics, SMS, OTP, push-authentication, and more; single sign-on to client and web-based applications and two-factor logon to Windows and Mac OS; integrated authentication workflows that streamline and simplify access for end-users; and hardware agnostic, allowing customers to leverage existing investments in hardware.
“The entire 2FA team is excited about joining Identity Automation,” said Greg Salyards, CEO and co-founder at 2FA. “The cultural and geographic match, coupled with the overwhelming synergy between IAM and authentication makes this a perfect acquisition.
Previously reported, 2FA, Inc. licensed BIO-key’s fingerprint-based biometric authentication technology platform and incorporated it into 2FA’s 2FA ONE Authentication platform.
