Biometrics Institute names new members of board of directors
The Biometrics Institute has appointed Adam Hergert from ANZ Bank, Jason Holmes from Heathrow Airport, and Richard Agostinelli from Crossmatch to its board of directors.
The new directors bring significant expertise to the board as it looks at the new opportunities and challenges facing the biometrics industry as the adoption of biometrics moves from large scale government enrolment programs to commercial and consumer authentication programs.
“It is important that the Biometrics Institute provides expert guidance in this growing area of biometrics adoption,” says Andrew Rice, chairman and director at the Biometrics Institute, “we need to strengthen our engagement with commercial businesses and consumer facing organizations such as in financial services, retail, healthcare and aviation sectors that are increasingly looking at introducing biometrics. We need to lead the conversation about the current capabilities of biometrics, how they are being used and how biometrics can be securely integrated into today’s enterprise.”
The board will also establish a new expert group, the ‘Digital Services Expert Group’, which will explore some of the key challenges of using biometrics for digital identity verification and authentication.
The Digital Services Expert Group will also discuss what new guidelines the industry may need to adopt in order to ensure the responsible use of biometrics in digital services.
The group will meet with Biometrics Institute members and key stakeholders on October 21 in London, UK to discuss its role and priorities.
“We are encouraging all organizations looking at digital transformation to engage with the Biometrics Institute and this meeting will be a fantastic opportunity for members to meet the experts on this new group and help shape its agenda,” said Isabelle Moeller, CEO of the Biometrics Institute.
