Taiwan fingerprint sensor suppliers predict strong third quarter
Fingerprint sensor suppliers based in Taiwan including Egis Technology (Egistec), Elan Microelectronics and FocalTech Systems are set to report strong sales for the third quarter of 2016 driven by the growing adoption of fingerprint sensors among Android smartphones, according to a report by Digitimes.
The report notes that Egistec has entered the supply chain of Samsung Electronics and that the company’s August revenues increased to US$5.71 million.
Elan disclosed that revenues for August 2016 reached a 26-month high of US$21.73 million and FocalTech’s revenues for August were up 6.5% over this time last year at US$32.7 million.
