Iris ID iCAM 7S series certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards

Iris ID announced its iCAM 7S series has been certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) under license number R-41110639. BIS is the national standards-setting body for India.

BIS certification attests to the safety, quality and reliability of electronic, medical, construction and other many other commercial and consumer products. Once a product has passed BIS certification, manufacturers may use the agency’s mark on products used in India.

According to Mohammed Murad, vice president global sales and business development, Iris ID, “the BIS certification is similar to Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards found throughout the world and the CE mark used in Europe.”

“We’re pleased to have received BIS certification as India is a very important market for Iris ID,” Murad added. “Our products are used not only by government agencies, but also by many commercial organizations.”

Iris ID’s iCAM 7S series and other products are extensively used by India’s Unique Identification Authority (UIDAI) as part of the country’s national identity program, Aadhaar. More than 1 billion citizens are enrolled in the program.
