Vuzix and NNTC partner for smart glasses with facial recognition

Biometric facial recognition technology that can match up to 15 faces per frame in less than a second has been developed for smart glasses by Dubai-based software developer NNTC in partnership with Vuzix, according to an announcement.

Vuzix Blade smart glasses were launched for enterprise and consumer markets at CES this year, and have been integrated with the new iFalcon Face Control Mobile, an artificial intelligence-powered solution that connects wirelessly to a wearable portable computer for database storage and local matching. The database can hold up to a million faces, the companies say.

“We are very happy with the way Vuzix Blade complements our wearable face recognition solution,” says NNTC General Manager Dmitry Doshaniy. “First of all, our customers love the product design and features. As a software developer we appreciate the flexibility, technical and pre-sale support that Vuzix offers. They also have solid vision for the product future that gives a peace of mind to us and the customers as well.”

So far, the companies have implemented facial recognition on about 50 pairs of Vuzix glasses, for use in security in the Middle East.

“The overall design and the see-through waveguide optics of the Vuzix Blade are critical must have features for deployments into security operations,” according to Vuzix President and CEO Paul Travers. “We’re excited to see this customer move rapidly from proof of concept to deployment within security operations.”

Similar products have also been made by Xloong for Chinese police and by Ntechlab for Russian police.
